August 1st: Beautiful Bath

We spent all of today in the charming city of Bath, basking in bright sunshine all day long.
Our day began with a walking tour of Bath, led by our excellent local guide Cheryl.
Along the way we saw reminders of Bath ancient Roman history & learned about the city's heyday during the 18th century.  Cheryl truly brought history to life, regaling us with tales of parties, etiquette, sedan chairs, spit dogs, & wigs full of mice & bugs!

Dinner tonight was in the restaurant of our hotel, a recognized top restaurant in its own right.  And everybody certainly seemed pleased - whatever each traveler had chosen was as excellent as the next.
After dinner we walked the very short distance to the Roman Baths, the top attraction in Bath, to tour the Roman & Georgian era bathing complexes on a special torch-lit evening.  A truly special opportunity to see the baths at their best & far less crowded than during the day.

Tomorrow:  The Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, & York
